First child, and eldest son of Patrick and Ellen
John was born around June 1883 in West Auckland, County Durham - and just 3 months after his parents were married. At the time the family were residing on Chapel Street.
But sadly on 19th November 1885, and just 2 years and 5 months old, John died - reason given on his death certificate was Scarlet Fever
I guess it was a blow for the young married couple - Patrick and Ellen, losing their first born so young. The only consolation for them would have been the birth of their second son Thomas a few weeks prior to John's death.
We can assume that the next son to come along after Thomas, was named John in memory of the first born - and I guess also in memory of Patrick's late father - also called John
