Thomas Dowd

Second child, and eldest surviving son of Patrick and Ellen


Thomas, or Tom as he was called, was born in 1885 in West Auckland, County Durham, shortly before his elder brother John died.

He served with the Durham Light Infantry (DLI) as a Pioneer in WW1 and saw action in France






Tom was married to Maria Mordue (1916), and they had six children - 4 x boys and 2 x girls

  •   Charles Patrick   (1924-1982)
  •   John (Jack)           (1927-1967) (Married Nancy Nicholson and had nine children - 2 x boys and 7 x girls
  •   Helen Mary           (1929-2015) Married Harry Hall in November 1950 and had one son - Michael


Tom himself passed away in 1952 at the age of 67 and is buried in West Auckland cemetery along with Maria, who died 17 years later in November 1969 at the age of 72
